Bradford schoolchildren taking part in a charity world record-breaking attempt next month are being asked to raise money by wearing a scarf like children’s book character Olli the monkey.

National deaf healthcare charity SignHealth, which is organising the sign2sing event, is inviting youngsters to wear a scarf like its mascot in return for a suggested £1 donation during the event on Wednesday, February 6.

Steve Powell, chief executive, said: “Teachers and parents are welcome to join in too. The money raised from the event will be used to continue our work helping to improve the mental and physical health and well-being of deaf people, including deaf children.”

Children who haven’t registered to take part in the world record attempt can still join in with the fundraiser by wearing a scarf and donating £1 each.

Six Bradford schools have already registered to take part.

The closing date for registrations is Wednesday, January 23 Donations can be made after the event by contacting SignHealth on 01494 687600.
