A former boss at a Bradford motor dealership appeared in court yesterday accused of perverting the course of justice over a speeding ticket.
Gordon Mee, 46, who was principal dealer at JCT600 BMW Bradford until August last year, is accused of letting 36-year-old car sales manager Simon Stolting falsely claim he was the driver when Mee’s car was caught travelling over the speed limit in a 30mph zone on November 5, 2011.
Stolting, a current employee of the family-owned Bradford-based motors group, is also accused of the perverting the course of justice by claiming to be the driver of the car when the offence was committed so Mee would not be prosecuted.
The men did not enter pleas during the short hearing at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning.
The court heard the case was not suitable to be heard by magistrates and the pair were committed to appear at Bradford Crown Court at 9.30am on Tuesday, January 22.
Mee, of Skipton Road, Ilkley, and Stolting, of Maingate, Hepworth, Holmfirth, were released on unconditional bail.
