More than 100 protesters gathered outside the Pakistan Consulate in Bradford yesterday in protest at the latest killing of members of the Shia Community in Pakistan.

The protest was organised by the city’s Hussainia Islamic Mission which warned it would be just the start of similar demonstrations if killings continue.

Mission spokesman Zafer Iqbal said: “Until the Government in Pakistan properly safeguards its Shia citizens and stops this genocide then our protests will continue.”

The Council for Mosques in Bradford has also said it condemns the targeted killing of the Shia or members of any other faith community in Pakistan.
