Bradford Council has revealed plans to build 36 flats for the elderly next to Eldwick Primary School.
The flats, all for rent, would be built on a site to the west of the school and are part of the authority’s push to build 80 affordable homes before 2015.
Access to the site would be through the Canary Drive cul de sac in Gilstead.
The two-bedroom flats each have either a garden or balcony, and the site would include 43 car parking spaces.
The Council says the design would be a “contemporary interpretation of the character which dominates Gilstead and surrounding area” and highlights that the site is within 500 metres of a convenience store, pub, veterinary practice, post office, school, church, recreational facilities, play area, doctors and pharmacy.
