A £130,000 makeover at Bradford's oldest public building, Bolling Hall, is nearing completion.

A month-long closure of the attraction, to allow Bradford Council to undertake major maintenance work in order to restore it to its period splendour, is coming to an end The historic manor house's Georgian staircase, Housebody (Tudor great hall), and Ghost Room have been given a makeover and returned to their historical colour schemes.

In addition, a public self service library is being installed. Improvements have already been made to the exterior pathways, signage and electrics.

In order to complete the work, the museum has been closed since before Christmas and is due to re-open on Wednesday.

As part of the project, staff have also given some of the furniture a conservation clean using specialist equipment to remove dirt.

The redecoration will re-instate original colour schemes from the Hall's 1915 restoration. Colour choices have been informed by photographs, evidence in situ, and contemporary schemes in other historic buildings.
