Keighley Town Council continues to receive requests for more grit bins, says the chairman of its watch and transport committee.
Councillor Graham Mitchell said the town council currently serviced 38 grit bins, saying he had received requests for another six to be installed. He was speaking at this month’s full meeting of the town council.
Coun Peter Corkindale responded that the town council should ask for the authority to take over the management of those grit bins in the town which are managed by Bradford Council.
Coun Brian Hudson said Keighley Town Council should instead focus on pressuring Bradford Council to do the job its taxpayers pay it to do.
Coun Mitchell said he would continue doing so.
“But I know that to get services out to the people, sometimes we will have to do it ourselves,” he said.
