A teenager has had emergency surgery after fracturing his neck in a car smash last night.
The black MG ZR he was a passenger in careered side-ways of a country road at Breary Lane, Bramhope, and demolished a stone garden wall just after 8pm.
Firefighters had to free the 17-year-old and the driver who were both trapped in the wreckage - although it was 9.30pm before the passenger casualty was in a stable enough condition to be moved from the scene.
The road was shut at both ends until 10pm.
