Yorkshire Water says the scheme will “significantly” reduce the risk of properties suffering sewer flooding inside their homes.
Engineering specialists Mott MacDonald Bentley will install a large storage pipe in the field at the back of properties on Rooks Close and Westfield Lane over the next five months.
