A 21-year-old man has been jailed for eight months for handling goods stolen in a £14,000 house burglary.
Steven Hardingham, of Bankfield Mount, Keighley, was himself burgled while being held in jail on remand for the offence, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Hardingham pleaded guilty to dishonestly handling cigarettes, jewellery and electrical goods raided from a house in Coronation Way, Keighley, on October 12.
Prosecutor Duncan Ritchie said the burglary haul included 420 packets of cigarettes valued at £12,000, a £500 TV set, £1,000 worth of jewellery and a laptop computer.
Mr Ritchie said he believed the burgled householder was a trader who sold items at car boot sales.
The court heard that Hardingham was easily led and had found the spell in custody on remand “a difficult and sobering experience.”
