Those who have lost their lives in wars and conflicts past and present will be remembered at a special event on Sunday.
Bradford's 60th Festival of Remembrance will be held at St George's Hall, Bradford.
Among the guests will be the Leader of Bradford Council, Councillor Kris Hopkins (Con, Worth Valley).
"The deaths of so many of our servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan in recent months remind us that the annual Remembrance commemorations are not just about the two world wars but also the many other conflicts that our country has been involved in since then," he said.
"The Festival of Remem-brance is one of the most prestigious events in the district's calendar, and Sunday's promises to be one of the best we've ever staged."
The event includes the Parade of Standards, community singing, a Service of Remembrance and musical entertainment which will include the Festival of Remembrance Symphonic Band which has been involved in the festival for more than 20 years.
The band's musical director Jeremy Russell has a personal reason for being involved.
"There is a direct link in that my grandfather was in the Bradford Pals, who fought in the Battle of the Somme, and was one of the few to return," he said. "It is important to remember what happened and to try to prevent it happening again."
The evening was based on the ceremony at London's Albert Hall and was a mix of light music and the traditional Remembrance ceremony, said Mr Russell.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Choud-hary Rangzeb, said: "The Festival for Remembrance is always very special and I hope people will support this event. We will remember all people who have lost their lives, been wounded or have suffered."
Shipley performing arts group the DM Academy will take part along with the Glen Singers and Anne Tonks.
Tickets are available from St George's Hall or the Alhambra at £6 with concessionary rates of £3.50 for senior citizens, £2 for under 16s and a special group rate of £12 for 12 tickets. The event starts at 6pm.
The following Sunday, November 12, Remembrance Day Services will be held across the district.
