MISS SHIRLEY MURIEL HUNTON Born 6th December 1933, in Burnley, Lancashire - died 6th September 2024, aged 90, In the gentle care of Haxby Hall Care Home, York. Shirley was the only child of Basil and Muriel Hunton (nee Drake). Muriel sadly died 2 months after Shirley was born who then went to live for her first 2 years with her father's parents in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. Following the marriage of Shirley's mother's younger sister, Margaret, to Haydn Molyneux (a director of Denholme Velvets) Shirley went to live with them and was brought up in Haworth, West Yorkshire, and later at Southland's Grove in Bingley where she lived until their deaths. Shirley then moved to Cullingworth where she lived with her beloved dog, Lexie, until the early onset of dementia forced her to move into care accommodation in Steeton before finally moving to Haxby Hall. Shirley lived a wonderful, varied life, working for Denholme Velvets and travelling the world and enjoying many friendships along the way until her retirement. At her wish, there will be a private cremation. May she rest in peace.
