PADGETT Douglas Earnest Vernon On Saturday 20th January 2024 passed away peacefully at The Gables Nursing Home. Beloved husband to the late Patricia, much loved dad to Neil, Tracy and Sally. Loved father-in-law, treasured grandad and great grandad, and a good friend to all who knew him. The funeral service will take place on Monday 19th February 2024 14:00 at All Saints Parish Church, Old Main Street Bingley, BD16 2RH. All family, friends and neighbours are respectfully invited. Family flowers only but if desired, donations in Douglas's memory can be made to Mascular Society and a donation box at the church will be available for this purpose. My dad, Trevor Hirst opened the batting with Doug at Idle cricket club when they were teenagers. Dad said that when Doug was around 14 or 15 he started stroking the ball around the field and dad knew then that he would be a great player.
