ACKROYD Valerie (formerly Thompson) (nee Frain) On 2nd September 2022 after a long illness at Wheatfields Hospice, bravely fought to the end, Valerie of Gildersome aged 70 years. Loving wife of John Ackroyd and beloved widow of the late Chris Thompson. The proudest mother of Chris and Joanne and adoring nana of Callum, sister and best friend of Sandra, daughter of the late Roseanna and Martin Frain, mother-in-law of Joanne and Mark, auntie to Marcus, Rachael and Rebecca. A great-aunt, nana, supporter and friend to many extended family. The family have requested that there is no specific colour/dress code for Valerie's funeral. The service to celebrate Val's life will be held at St Columbus Catholic Church Bradford on Thursday 6th October at 11.30 am, followed by a cremation at Parkwood Crematorium, Elland at 13.30 pm. Family flowers only by request, but donations may be given in memory of Val to Wheatfields Hospice. A donations box will be made available at the services for this purpose.
