I was so sad to hear of the passing of L-L (as my Dad used to call him in Latin class at school). I remember us two in the third form finishing first and second in a class race around the playing fields and Johnny Warren saying, 'Ah, the double-barrels are on form today...' After school years, I met Jeremy only a few times in London and once or twice in Ilkley. Jeremy once said to me some time in the early 2000s 'Eddie, we're both too old now to get married and have kids. I proved him wrong, marrying late, and I'm sorry he never did, I’m sure he would have made a great father. He once told me that his mother thought I was extremely handsome and would be a great catch for some lucky girl… In the 1990s we played golf with Nick, I think Jeremy was working down in London then, driving a silver Mercedes? Through the years since last seeing him, I could easily have got in touch with Beal through old school friends, but only ever met him at rare reunions with the cross-country, and other BGS lads. I was always looking Beal up to try to find out whom he was working for, to see what he was doing, I was never in direct contact with him. And that was it really, he was always a figure in the background whom I didn’t know very well but always cared for and wished well, remotely, and I am so sad I will never see him again. I can recall him when I listen to New Order. RIP, Jeremy, and condolences to Nick and the rest of the family. Eddie S-S.
