Anyone who enjoys gardening would probably love to go to the Chelsea Flower Show which starts on May 22, but it can certainly be an expensive trip. So why not head to Lotherton Hall, near Leeds, this weekend for the Yorkshire Garden Show? It may not be as prestigious as Chelsea, but there's something there for everyone. It features floral displays from Britain's top horticultural nurseries and plant sales where you can buy everything from unusual exotics to cottage garden favourites. Other attractions include food and drink, outside garden products and plant sales, craft village, cookery demonstrations and plenty of children's activities. You could also explore Lotherton Hall itself, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors each year. As well as the house and bird garden, there are extensive formal gardens and grounds. Admission is £5 for adults, concessions £4, under 16s free. The Yorkshire Garden Show runs from today until Sunday, 10am to 5pm. You can find Lotherton Hall on the A1M at junction 47 (and M62).

There's another fun day at the Piece Hall in Halifax with the RSPCA Animal Happening & Fun Dog Show, a fun day out for all the family, including the dog. There will be charity stalls, games, a small animal area and a chance to learn about the work of the RSPCA. If a member of your family has four legs and barks, why not give them a trip out this weekend? You'll find lots to do at Carlton Canine Hydrotherapy's family fun day. With free admission and parking just £1 you can enjoy everything from a bouncy castle to face-painting, a beer tent to dog displays. All funds raised on the day will be split betweeen Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Candlelighters. The fun day is tomorrow and runs from 10am to 4pm.
