A BRADFORD school is celebrating the success of its students graduating from a national university access programme.
Bronte Girls’ Academy, part of iExel Education Trust, is celebrating the success of 28 students, from Years 9 and 10 as they graduate from The Scholars Programme.
During the programme, Year 9 learned about the optimum conditions for an effective catalytic converter and Year 10 learned about imagining a reproductive future – artificial wombs in science. Both groups then completed a final essay which was given a university-level grade.
Ms Esmail, a science teacher at Bronte Girls’ Academy, said:" Through studying a topic beyond the curriculum, students developed their research skills, critical thinking, and meta-cognition.
"Congratulations to all our scholars; we are delighted to celebrate their work and achievements."
The Scholars Programme, is run by UK-wide university access charity The Brilliant Club, supports students aged 8-18 to help students get into the most competitive universities and succeed once there.
Student, Aylah Sadiq commented on her experience:"Overall, I and the rest of the scholars from Bronte Girls’ Academy enjoyed The Scholars Programme and believe that it has developed our style of thinking and writing massively."
Susie Whigham, Interim CEO at The Brilliant Club, said:“Congratulations to these outstanding students as they graduate from The Scholars Programme.
"I hope they use these new skills throughout their education and continue their fantastic work.”
Mrs. Shafquat, Principal of Bronte Girls’ Academy said: “I am proud of BGA students and Ms. Esmail for embracing the opportunity to be part of the Scholars programme and working so diligently to achieve their best."
Professor Khurshid Khan, CEO of iExel Education Trust, stated “I would like to congratulate the children and staff at Bronte Girls’ Academy on their successful completion and graduation from the Scholar’s Programme run by The Brilliant Club.
"iExel Education Trust is committed to raising aspirations and standards within our communities and schools.
"We have invested over ~£1.5M on cutting edge Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) facilities across our three academies, of which ~£0.5M has been invested in Bronte.
"Hence, we are delighted to see the value of this investment really paying off and creating brighter futures for our pupils.”
