Retail, Leisure or Hospitality Business of the Year Award
THE highest standards of customer service from our readers’ favourite firms will be honoured in the Retail, Leisure or Hospitality Business of the Year category. The winner might be a hotel, pub, restaurant, shop or any business that has day-to-day contact with the public. We are accepting nominations on our website but we will also be running a coupon in the T&A over the coming weeks so that nominations can be made by post. Casa Espresso in Shipley won the award in 2017. They are specialist artisan coffee roasters who supply a host of restaurants, cafes and eateries across the county and beyond. Established in 2000, the independent family business offers good after sales service as well as barista training. They supply coffee machines as well as wholesale coffee with a facility to purchase specialist beans online which have been sourced from all corners of the globe. The Telegraph & Argus can trace its direct history back to 1868 when the Bradford Daily Telegraph - the city's first daily newspaper and forerunner of today's T&A - appeared on the streets costing a halfpenny a copy (about £1.47 at today's prices!) Its newspaper roots, however, go back to the birth of the Bradford Observer, in 1834, a title which - in the shape of the Yorkshire Observer - was amalgamated in to the Telegraph & Argus in 1956. The Telegraph & Argus itself first appeared in 1926, when the Bradford Daily Telegraph and the Yorkshire Evening Argus merged to create the daily newspaper that is now such a well-known fixture of the Bradford district. In recent years, the T&A has won a number of accolades for design, content, campaigns and appeals, including awards for the Specialist Publication of the Year 2013.
