A new restaurant and wine bar in Skipton was opened on Saturday night.

Omar Khan’s Wine Bar and restaurant on Keighley Road, Skipton, was officially opened by the editor of the Telegraph & Argus, Perry Austin-Clarke, who is chairman of Caring Bradford, a charity fund-raising organisation set up by Omar Khan, Bradford MPs Gerry Sutcliffe and Marsha Singh, and Mr Austin-Clarke. It has raised tens of thousands of pounds for causes including Marie Cure Cancer Care in Bradford and the Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust.

Mr Austin-Clarke praised Mr Khan’s community spirit and Mr Sutcliffe told the invited audience, which included Baroness Margaret Eaton and the chairman of Craven District Council, Councillor Andrew Quinn, that Mr Khan’s commitment and substantial investment in the venture had already created a significant number of local jobs.

Mr Khan said he was excited to be launching his new restaurant in Skipton, a town he had loved since he first visited it as a child, and he thanked the audience and residents for the warm welcome they had given him already.

Mr Khan added: “We have created a great venue with something for children and families. There is an Indian al a carte menu and a buffet and everyone was mingling and networking. There is also alfresco dining in the new venue.”
