A Bradford-born finance boss has helped to launch a new online money saving ‘supermarket’ website for online shoppers.

Launched by Yorkshire-based parent company Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance, Savvi will offer 500,000 credit-worthy UK customers free access to offers, including savings on high street shopping, retail discounts and insurance, through a new website besavvi.co.uk.

The move is a first for point-of-sale finance company Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance which is headed by Bradford-born Gerald Grimes.

It will offer 1,200 national retailers, including leading high street names such as DFS, Beaverbrooks and Wickes, with an additional platform to interact with consumers to boost sales.

Mr Grimes said: “This year we have a £1 billion fund to help retailers sell more and savvi is another investment in our trade partners and end consumers. savvi is our new consumer brand where customers can manage their Hitachi Capital finances online and access all sorts of potential savings.

“In 2011, money will be increasingly tight, and there is real demand from shoppers for relevant, value for money, bespoke offers.

“Savvi will add another dimension to clear and cost effective point of sale finance, building relationships with our customers that will last beyond the life of their finance agreement.

“Our retail partners immediately jumped on board with savvi, offering exclusive discounts and deals and even creating bespoke websites to promote the offerings.

“We have big plans for the savvi brand, which will grow as new products and services are added, which will not only reach across the spectrum of financial services that consumers need, but will include amongst other things some of life’s luxuries.

“Savvi is aiming to become a leading, straight talking and simple to use portal that will provide value for money, open to all consumers across the UK.”
