A POPULAR Bradford chippy which was burgled on Sunday has reopened its doors - much to the delight of its warm-hearted customers.

Rob's Plaice, on Crownest Road, Bingley, had a break-in on Sunday evening, with a burglar gaining access through the roof tiles and leaving a hole in the ceiling near the fryer in the fish and chip shop's kitchen.

Owner Carol Riley described the aftermath of the burglary as an "absolute mess" but she and her husband David worked hard to get it back up and running.

"We're back open," said owner Carol Riley. "We reopened on Tuesday evening.

"We mended the roof and the plasterer came in. Our former fryer came to help mend the roof."

"We were at it cleaning up all day on Monday and Tuesday morning.

"We've had loads of customers in and they're happy we've reopened.

"They've been really supportive with flowers, wine and boxes of chocolates.

"We've even had an £80 anonymous tip. We'd really love to know who it was to thank them.

"Everybody's been asking about us. People have been fantastic."
