FORMER supermarket supremo Sir Ken Morrison is to tell how he grew Bradford-based Morrisons from one small grocery shop into the UK’s fourth largest supermarket with more than 500 stores.
Bradford-born Sir Ken, now a gentleman farmer in North Yorkshire, will be the keynote speaker at the Family Business Place Northern Conference on May 19 in Leyburn.
Delegates will discuss a key challenge for family businesses – whether to hand on the business or sell.
The conference aims to break down the different exit options for business owners and live case studies from the guest speakers will give delegates useful advice.
The event at Tennants Auctioneers will take place as more than 200,000 family businesses in Yorkshire make up 63 per cent of all private companies.
Other speakers at the event will include Judy Bell , founder of Shepherd’s Purse Cheese and chairman of Deliciouslyorkshire, and David Kerfoot, founder of The Kerfoot Group.
