WASTE has been cut by more than 60 per cent over the past year at Park House Healthcare in Birkenshaw as part of the company’s green commitment.
The company, which is a leading supplier of pressure equipment, specialist beds and moving and handling equipment to the NHS and nursing homes, reduced metalwork waste by more than 14 per cent, while cardboard and polythene waste fell by 8.5 per cent compared with 2013, with more reductions expected this year due to packaging changes.
Park House Healthcare’s eco-driving training cut fuel usage in its fleet of vehicles with miles per gallon rising by more than 10 per cent. Fleet CO2 emissions fell to 9.78 tonnes per vehicle from 10.01 tonnes in 2013 Park House trains 10 per cent of its drivers in eco-driving every month.
The company won inning the 2014 Energy Savings Trust’s fleet hero award for eco-driving.
