Providing solutions to ensure the smooth running of processes at some of the world’s best-known companies has paid off for a software business which is doubling its office space and taking on extra staff.

Cimlogic has moved into 6,000 sq ft offices at Salts Mill, Saltaire, from its previous Baildon base and is recruiting five more IT and engineering specialists as demand for its services increases among leading companies across the UK and Ireland.

The company, launched by managing director Mike Hodge in 1997, currently has 26 employees and its new base will allow room for further expansion as it looks to increase turnover from £2 million to £2.6 million in the next 12 months.

Cimlogic’s success is based on increasing demand for lean manufacturing and improved efficiency using the latest IT systems and technologies which has enabled it to achieve consistent growth over the past two years.

The company, which was a finalist in the technological achievement category at the 2013 T&A Bradford Means Business awards, specialises in industrial automation and manufacturing execution systems.

It works with household names in the food and beverage, medical devices, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods industries including Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, Weetabix and Wrigley.

Mike Hodge, who now runs Cimlogic with Mr Sykes, said: “UK manufacturing gets some bad press, but it really is a powerhouse. The key to staying competitive is increasing efficiency, and this is where IT systems linked to lean manufacturing can help.

“Countries like the USA have embraced this way of working and many companies in the UK are now seeing the benefits. We provide software solutions which enable companies to achieve world class manufacturing, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement goals.

“Moving to Salts Mill will give us double the space we have currently and excellent transport links, as well as allowing us to provide a dedicated customer training facility. It will also accommodate our future expansion and recruitment plans as the company continues to go from strength to strength.”

Cimlogic’s expertise in designing and installing software systems for manufacturers enables companies to constantly check the efficiency of their equipment and processes.

Mr Hodge said: “Providing real-time data means that our customers can keep a close check on the efficiency and reliability of their manufacturing processes.

“For instance, a production line may keep stopping momentarily, but if that is not acted upon the cumulative effect of what is regarded as a minor blip could be costly and damage production efficiency. As well as helping to ensure smooth manufacturing processes, our systems also help in ,monitoring energy consumption – a growing concern for companies as prices rocket – and their carbon footprint.”

In 2013 Cimlogic moved to secure its skills base by supporting university students studying relevant subjects through a graduate sponsorship programme providing work experience places and potential jobs.
