Tribute has been paid by Ford UK boss Mark Ovenden to long-term employee Graham Simpson, who began his working life at a Bradford garage and spent his entire career working for Ford dealerships in the North of England, Mr Simpson, 76, died at a Cheshire care home after an extended illness.
Educated at Grange Grammar School, Bradford, Graham started with Ford in 1953 as an apprentice mechanic at local dealer Hamilton & Bramall, later CD Bramall, where he rose to become service manager and then dealer principal at Hayes of Horsforth in 1969 and in 1973 at CD Bramall in Shipley and Bingley.
He participated in a management buyout to form BPW (Bradford, Paisley, Warrington) with Tim Worrall.
Mark Ovenden, chairman and managing director Ford of Britain, said: “Ford recognises the debt it owes to Graham for his dedication and our thoughts are with his family who continue to have a crucial involvement with Ford.”
