Two significant business wins have provided a strong start to 2013 for two businesses.

Shipley-based key insurance specialist Keycare has clinched one of its biggest deals with a leading high street name.

Meanwhile, a visit by executives from a leading Asian oil company to the Skipton headquarters of fibreglass composite manhole manufacturer Fibrelite also resulted in a major order for the firm's new factory in Malaysia.

Keycare has landed a three-year contract providing a key replacement service for Tesco Bank’s motor insurance customers.

The win comes after a milestone year in 2012 for the second-generation family business, founded 35 years ago, which recovers and replaces lost or stolen keys for customers of household names such as 1st Central and Suffolk Constabulary.

The business is on track to post a £4.2 million turnover and recently expanded its 27-strong team into new offices in Shipley to accommodate growth after moving from Baildon.

Tesco Bank customers renewing or taking out a motor insurance policy could benefit from the key replacement service which Tesco Bank is offering as an additional cover option on both its Standard and Value policies. Gary Davess, director of general insurance at Tesco Bank, said: “Tesco Bank Key Cover offers our car insurance customers a reliable and efficient service, greatly reducing the hassle and distress associated with lost or stolen keys.”

Keycare managing director David Ross said: “The price of replacing car keys continues to rocket – in some instances electronically programmed keys can cost as much as £1,000 or more to replace. This new product brings peace of mind to customers if they lose their keys, and supports Tesco Bank‘s reputation for offering its customers great service.”

Fibrelite has won a contract with oil company Petronas, a major operator in the Asia Pacific region, through a four year supply contract with its distributor in the area, Flowco Malaysia.

Fibrelite will supply tank sumps, dispenser sumps and composite manhole covers. Products will be manufactured and supplied from Fibrelite’s new factory in Kuala Lumpur. Fibrelite’s managing director Ian Thompson said: “Our local manufacturing facilities allow us to supply a consistently premium product at highly competitive rates so we can pass on cost savings to our customers. The advantages of making our customers’ requirements in Malaysia include elimination of customs duties and expensive sea freight.”
