SIR - It was reported in the T&A on July 23 that a dangerous criminal has been jailed for three years seven months for scalding a victim with boiling water after forcing his way into his home. The report stated that the criminal had previously been convicted of robbery in 1990 and locked up for 13 years, and in 2002 locked up for robbery for 14 years, and jailed for 6 years in 2011 for drug dealing?

SIR - Damian Green , the Conservative MP for Ashford in Kent is quoted as saying that it was “unfair to the people of Ashford” that twenty five acres of local fields have been designated to become a gigantic lorry park to cope with the traffic jams about to be caused by the implementation of Brexit.

SIR - It was with dismay that I read Emma Clayton’s column on July 23, ‘Why are charity shop staff so rude?’.

SIR - What a dreadful reflection on our home city (T&A, July 21).

SIR - It looks like we are finally getting to the crux of the Brexit issue with little or no chance of striking a meaningful trade deal with the EU but hoping for something special in the shape of a US trade deal (God help us)

SIR - If you looked at me, you might not notice my disability - a lot of people don’t. But I have autism, and because I am classed as disabled and therefore find it difficult to wear a face mask, I am exempt from being required to wear one, in line with official government guidance.

SIR - Our Prime Minister when in Churchillian mode tells us that we are in a war but against an unseen enemy. So when the anti-maskers (T&A, July 21) pursue their campaign, they are in effect giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

SIR - Bradford East MP Imran Hussain has challenged the police over stop and search, alleging that it has a disproportionate use with BAME communities (T&A, July 15). He goes on to say that stop and search is an overused tactic.

SIR - I read with interest the article in the T&A on Friday, July 10 regarding the forthcoming auction of "mouseman" furniture at Leyburn on July 25.

SIR - I was saddened to see my favourite independent coffee shop closed and unlikely to open again.
