Bulls vice-captain Glenn Morrison is motoring towards a return to action and could be back inside a fortnight.

And, despite turning 33 today, the Aussie back-rower claims his fitness after wrist surgery is so hot he is now one of the quickest players at the club.

Influential Morrison has been badly missed since suffering the injury at Castleford on March 29.

He was expected to be out for three months but had screws removed from his wrist on Tuesday and now plans to be on the field again two weeks ahead of schedule.

Morrison has recovered from injuries sooner than anticipated before and is confidently targeting the Super League clash at Warrington Wolves on June 14 for a comeback.

He said: “The doc said about a month from now but I’m looking to get back before then. Hopefully it’ll be a couple of weeks.

“I’ve been training hard and doing cardio almost every day. I’m fitter now than I was at the start of the season.

“I’ve been running really well. When I had my 40-metre speed test the other day, I took the fastest forward title off Mick Worrincy and was pretty quick to let him know!

“I was also only two one-hundredths of a second behind Dave Halley as well and now I want to try and put that to use out on the park “I’ve been doing all I can so that when I did get these pins out I’m back and on that field as soon as possible. That’s the positive I take out of it all.”

The reappearance of Morrison – and his new-found added pace – will serve as a huge boost for Bradford as they bid to resuscitate their campaign after back-to-back defeats against bottom two Celtic Crusaders and Salford City Reds.

They also fell out of the Challenge Cup a week after his injury and have remained near the foot of Super League during his absence.

Morrison conceded: “It’s been tough and frustrating not being able to play. Sitting and watching when things aren’t quite going to plan makes it even harder.

“The only input I’ve been able to give is verbal. I’ve been doing what I can but it’ll be great to get out there playing again.

“Last year when I’d done my quad I couldn’t really do anything straight away and then it was only upper body weights.

“It made it tough to come back from but this time, with only my hand being affected, I’m raring to go.”

His leadership qualities, defensive prowess and drive will aid Steve McNamara’s men and the player is also keen to earn himself a new deal at Grattan Stadium.

“It’ll be good to get out there and prove I’ve got some good footie in me,” said Morrison, whose deal is up at the end of this campaign.

“It’s time to release some of that frustration I’ve had.”
