Joe Colbeck has told Stuart McCall: I’ll be your super-sub at Luton.
The fit-again winger is itching to re-join City’s prom-otion bid after safely coming through yesterday’s 1-0 reserve win against Scun-thorpe.
It was Colbeck’s first full outing since breaking a bone in his foot in October and he immediately put himself forward for a bit-part role at Kenilworth Road.
He said: “I was a bit tired towards the end but the main thing is I got through it. Now hopefully I’ll be in the squad for the weekend.
“I’m not fully 100 per cent yet playing-wise but I’d be very happy with a spot on the bench, maybe coming on for the last 20 minutes.
“Last week I was in the squad but not selected to be on the bench. But I wasn’t expecting anything.
“I think the manager just wants me to get involved again and be part of it.
“But I’ve been really looking forward to playing a full game this week.
“I only played 70 minutes against Man United reserves so to know that I was going to do the full 90 yesterday was a real boost.
“It was a bit of a grind towards the end but there were a few blowing late on because the conditions made it a very difficult game to play in.”
With one win from their last seven outings, City need to pile on the misery for crisis club Luton with a much-needed victory.
Colbeck added: “We’ve had too many draws at the moment but we’re still fourth.
“It’s so close up there – three points can take us up to second and a defeat can drop us to eighth.”
