JAMES Hanson kicked off City’s pre-season with a bang as he scored twice in today’s 3-0 win at Farsley Celtic.
Hanson, who played in the first half team, was up for it from the start with a thumping shot turned away by keeper Tom Taylor.
Josh Morris hit the bar before Hanson headed City in front after 19 minutes from Filipe Morais’ cross.
As the visitors dominated, Hanson headed the second eight minutes later from a Sanchez Watt cutback.
Watt got the goal his lively half warranted when he tapped home number three after Taylor fumbled a cross from Luke Hendrie, another of the six trialists to get an outing.
City changed their entire team for the second period but still had plenty of chances to increase their advantage without finding a fourth.
Assistant manager Steve Parkin said:“It was just a case of getting back to playing football again. We’ve had the balls out for the last ten days but we’ve not done a lot of team play as such.
“It was nice to see some of the young players involved with the few injuries we’ve got as well as the trialists and new lads. It was a worthwhile exercise.”
City first half: Williams; Hendrie, Liddle, McCombe, Meredith; Morais, Wright, Morris, Gilkes, Watt, Hanson.
City second half: Cracknell; McMahon, Omolukun , Sheehan, Leigh; Mottley-Henry, Routis, Devine, Brennan; Clarke, James.
