Bradford Park Avenue’s search for a new manager is over after former Farsley Celtic boss John Deacey was appointed as Dave Cameron’s successor today.
Avenue director and spokesman Kevin Hainsworth said, “John is taking training tonight and he will be in the dugout as our manager for the first time when we play Ashton United at home on Saturday.
“John is a good coach, a motivator, a sound tactician and a very good man manager, he was the outstanding candidate on our short list. He will steady the ship and hopefully have us steaming ahead in the very near future.
“We are a realistic board and while we share the expectations of our supporters we also realise what work has to go into every aspect of a club at the level we are at. It may take a while for John to haul us back into the play off places but we know he will.
"He will be assisted by Gary Stokes who has been in caretaker charge since Dave decided to resign from the post. He obviously knows Stokesy very well as they worked together at Farsley.”
Avenue’s top target was thought to be Lee Sinnott but he is ruled out of a return to the game at the present time. The former Bantams defender has not agreed a severance deal with Coca Cola League Two outfit Port Vale. He managed City’s Football League rivals after a very successful spell in charge at Throstle Nest.
