BRADFORD CITY AA All the association’s waters are continuing to produce good sport of silver fish and carp. The river season opens on Saturday, June 16, and members are reminded to take care when walking on the banks as growth may obscure the bank edge. The first match of the river season is on Sunday, June 17, on the River Ure at Lower Dunsforth. Tickets are £15 and available from the match secretary on 07875-275749 or 01423-523368. Last Sunday, the Annual Staveley Championship was held on Staveley Small lake. Fourteen anglers endured six hours of constant rain but that didn’t put the fish off from feeding. Ide were the main species, along with skimmer bream and two carp. Result: 1 R Brooksbank Bradford City 14lb 7oz, 2 D Bramley Bradford City 11lb 8oz, 3 C Mortimer Bradford 11lb 5oz, 4 C Cavell Wetherby 8lb 6oz, 5 E Coleman Wetherby 7lb 2oz.
LISTERHILLS AA The draw for Sunday’s open match at Rodley is at 11am at the bridge. Contact Graham on 0771-626444. The next Saturday open is the last annual open, also at Rodley on June 16. The evening match was won by E Harrison with 1lb 13oz, 2 C Ward 14½oz. All members who night fish must obtain a permit and submit full name and address to secretary. Catches on all waters have improved after the warm spell. The coarse season on rivers starts on June 16 when keep nets and all baits can be used.
HEWENDEN AC The next coarse match will be on Sunday with a 9am draw in the car park. Cost is £10 all in, all members welcome. There will also be a working party on Saturday, June 30, with a 9am start. Any help from members will be appreciated. The lake will be closed on that day. We must also remind members not to be on the lake before 7am.
GREAT HORTON AC Last week’s match at Far View was fished in wet conditions, with all anglers catching. Result: 1 K Nouch, 2 J Sutcliffe, 3 B Weston, 4 P Dunn. There is a working party on Saturday (10am to 2pm). Please attend if possible.
FIELD AC The draw is at 9am for Sunday’s match at Bradshaw Hall and we are on lake number eight. For those who have booked breakfast, the cafe is open from 7am.
CLAYTON AC Result of June 2 match at Farview bottom lake, in which 14 fished: 1 Dean Clarkson 37lb 12oz, 2 Kevin Armitage 33lb 12oz, 3 Alan Haley 31lb 14oz, 4 Kevin Murgatroyd 31lb 8oz. The next match is on Saturday, June 16, at Viking Fishery. To book on, phone Jack on 07816-220284.
CENTRAL AC Our next match is at Sunrise Lakes on Sunday. Meet at venue 8am, fishing 9am to 3pm. Keep nets and landing nets are provided.
BRADFORD No1 AA Gratrix Dam is fishing well for roach, chub and bream to float tactics. Shelf Dam top pond is worth a visit for tench to 3lbs, ide to 1lbs and chub to 2lbs on maggot. It is now just a week until all rivers reopen to fishing following the coarse closed season, so the River Calder, River Nidd and River Swale should all be worth a visit for chub next weekend. Tickets are still available for the members’ match at Cowthorpe on June 17 from Simon on 01274-571175.
BINGLEY AC Coppice pond is closed on Sunday for a club match. The draw is 8am on the bank. To book on, contact A Greenwood on 07971-428678. Members may fish after the weigh-in about 4pm. There is a committee meeting on Tuesday at Ryshworth Club, 8pm start.
Bierley AC Last Sunday’s match fished on the second pond was a rain-drenched affair. 1 D Glenton 9lb 12oz, 2 P Coope 8lb 5oz, 3 L Fallon 5lb 15oz. There is a Captain Mannering 24-hour carp match at 5pm on Saturday, June 9 to 5pm on Sunday. This has been sponsored by Tackle 2U. An all-day working party will be held on Saturday, June 16. All are welcome. Early contender for the wally of the month award goes to whoever left a large number of beer bottles in bushes behind peg two, pond two.
