Tresor Kandol looks set to miss at least half of Leeds’ remaining eight fixtures in their chase for promotion.
The United striker was shown a straight red card for grabbing Norwich’s Darel Robinson within 20 seconds of coming off the bench on Saturday.
Having already been sent off against Yeovil earlier in the season, Kandol now faces a four-match ban.
In reality that could mean him only being used in an emergency by manager Simon Grayson.
The Leeds boss was clearly unimpressed by his striker’s contribution, with his side having lost their last three games without scoring a goal.
Grayson made no excuses for Kandol and said: “We saw it happen.
“He got the lad by the throat and once you raise your arms to anyone, you give the referee the opportunity to send you off.”
