Man of the moment Omar Daley today dispelled fears that he could be lured away from City.
Daley has been at the forefront of the impressive start to the new League Two campaign, wreaking havoc on the left wing.
If his hot form continues, City can expect rival clubs to be beating a path to Valley Parade for his services.
Daley signed a new three-year deal in January but the contract contains a release clause if a certain fee, understood to be substantial, is met.
The speedy winger, though, has made it clear he wants to play a major part in City’s promotion push.
Daley said: “At the moment I’m very happy. I’m enjoying my football and happy playing with a good team.
“The only problem is that I’m the only Jamaican so I’m going to get in the gaffer’s ear to get more over!”
City would be loathe to let Daley go and joint-chairman Mark Lawn stressed it would be the player’s decision and not the club’s if he chose to speak to anyone prepared to match the agreed price tag.
Lawn confirmed: “It’s a considerable fee so it would have to be a Championship club.
“But it wouldn’t be the intention of Bradford City to try to sell him. If that figure was offered, it would then be down to Omar not us.”
City’s four-win start is their best in the league for 11 years and Daley reckons there is a fear factor gripping opponents.
“You can see in their faces they are waiting to get beaten. You can see the tension on the other team when you walk on to the pitch – they are worried.
“So we aim to do our best every game and not disappoint.
“I’m pleased with the all-round performance of the team. The way we’re going about it has been really professional from day one. You see Michael Boulding and Peter Thorne up top and Joe (Colbeck) and me with the pace on the wing as well as a solid defence. It’s a good all-round team to be playing in.”
Daley’s lively performances have been a high spot of the opening month and Julian Rhodes believes his efforts have been even more impressive considering the stick he was getting from the boo boys towards the end of last season.
“It’s never nice to see a player being booed by his own fans and the way Omar has come back and applied himself deserves great credit,” he said.
“He’s literally been running himself into the ground non-stop for 90 minutes every game. And he always plays with a smile on his face.”
Daley added: “I’m just concentrating on doing better in the final third of the pitch. You never stop learning, even at the age of 27.
“It’s totally different from playing in Jamaica. Here it’s more high tempo but this is where I want to play so I have to keep learning my trade.
“It’s going to get harder because people are looking out for me now.”
Meanwhile, Willy Topp returned to training yesterday after three weeks out with a hamstring injury.
