Barry Conlon scored his first home goal for City to clinch a dramatic last-minute win over Lincoln.
A day full of emotion as the sides met in the league at Valley Parade for the first time since the 1985 fire ended in high drama.
Joe Colbeck's superb pass picked out Omar Daley breaking on the right, he pulled the ball back for Conlon and the Irishman's left foot did the rest.
The game had begun just as explosively as City followed the pre-match ceremony by grabbing the lead after just 57 seconds.
Colbeck again had a hand by nipping past Gary Croft and whipping in a cross for Peter Thorne to drill home from 12 yards.
Thorne should have had a second from Kyle Nix's pass but shot weakly at keeper Ben Smith.
Peter Jackson's Lincoln had their chances and Ben Wright's header was kept out by a combination of Donovan Ricketts and Matt Clarke.
But Ricketts, who had a good game, had no chance with the equaliser early in the second half which Lenell John-Lewis crashed home off the bar.
The game seemed to be heading for City's fourth draw in five when substitute Conlon popped up to seal the points in front of League Two's biggest crowd of the season.
CITY: Ricketts, Williams, Wetherall, Clarke, Heckingbottom, Colbeck, Evans, Nix, Daley, Ndumbu-Nsungu, Thorne. Subs: Bower, Conlon, Rhodes, Penford, Phelan.
