David Wetherall has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for his work with football's anti-racism campaign.
The City skipper has been added to an illustrious list that includes the likes of Sir Bobby Robson, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright.
Show Racism the Red Card is now in its 12th year but the special group to honour the longest-standing patrons and supporters has been running since 2004.
Wetherall said: "I got involved with them years ago when I was still playing for Leeds. It started up in the north-east and myself and Gunnar Halle helped out by doing a video they were launching when we had a game at Newcastle.
"I spoke about incidents of racism and why I felt it was so wrong and I've supported the campaign ever since then.
"When I was growing up watching games there were obviously incidents that were pretty plain to everybody. Thankfully they seem to have largely gone out the game, certainly in this country, although we still hear about things happening when teams are on the continent.
"But this campaign is not just about what happens in football but using the sport as a vehicle for the whole community. Young people especially look up to footballers which is why it's so important that we can reinforce the message.
"If players stand up and say that it's wrong then hopefully the message resonates with youngsters.
"I'm pleased to be associated with the campaign and its on-going message. It's nice to be honoured in this way but the main thing is that the work continues within the community."
