Sean Taylforth has been tipped as "one to keep an eye on" by City boss Stuart McCall.

The 18-year-old left winger had his first taste of action when he played at Doncaster in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last month.

Although City got hammered 5-1, Taylforth showed glimpses of his talent and nearly made a dream start with an early cross-shot that fizzed across the goal.

He has not made it back into the senior squad since but McCall has hinted that it may be only a matter of time.

Taylforth netted a 30-yard scorcher for the reserves at Port Vale in midweek, as well as setting up a goal for Joe Colbeck, and McCall is maintaining a close eye on the teenager's progress.

The Bantams chief said: "Sean is knocking on the door. He's done well this season, scored a couple of goals and is a good crosser of the ball. He likes to get into wide areas and deliver.

"He looked bright at Doncaster and was that close to being involved in the Lincoln game later that week but I decided to go with Omar (Daley) on the left instead.

"Sean just had a little dip for a couple of games after that but now he's back again and definitely one to keep an eye on."

Taylforth's opportunities could be limited because McCall has the unusual luxury of three left midfielders at his disposal.

"We've had Alex Rhodes out but he's just coming back from injury and Kyle Nix has done well when called upon," said McCall.

"Nixy's not an out-and-out winger but you don't see many teams these days playing with two genuine widemen.

"But Sean is definitely doing well. He's knuckled down and if he keeps progressing as he has done there's a chance he can push himself into the squad."
