REIGNING champions Pudsey A suffered a shock 18-12 home defeat against Crossgates in the Bradford Saturday League thanks to Gareth Lally and Nigel Cranston.
Lally won 21-6 and Cranston 21-7 as Crossgates' impressive start to the season left them top of the Naylor Premier table after the opening two weeks.
Eccleshill A also made it two wins from two with a 19-11 win at Wyke A, with Brian Walker's 21-9 success the pick of seven away winners.
Brighouse Sports A also remain unbeaten, with Andrea Buckley 21-7 and Tony Riley 21-9 helping them to an 18-12 verdict at Asa Briggs A, despite a great 21-8 from Mark Senior.
Paul Wilczynski 21-5, Graeme Dytiche 21-6 and Robbie Ellis 21-9 helped Shipley Club A card their first victory – 20-10 at home to Clayton A, with Darren Clare's 21-7 the stand-out performance for the villagers.
Whitkirk defeated Ladyhill A 23-7, helped by emphatic wins from Paul Tobin 21-2, Kristian Walder 21-7, Shaun Kelly 21-8 and Danny Towning 21-9. Neil Simpson showed some resistance for Ladyhill with a 21-9 away win.
The Godwin League already looks like a three-horse race between Akroydon Victoria A, Cononley and Littlemoor S&SC as they all made it two wins from two.
Akroydon carded a 20-10 win at Brighouse Sports B, with Martin Steele's 21-5 the pick of eight away winners. William Muslek kept the aggregate close with a superb 21-8 home success.
Cononley travelled to Elland CA&BC, which is never an easy place to go, and left with a 17-13 win, despite a great 21-8 card by James Senior.
Littlemoor A logged an impressive seven winners at Eccleshill B, with Craig Hebbard's 21-9 the pick as they scored a 20-10 success.
Joe Stockdale must surely be pushing on the door of the county parks team as he bowled his way to a 21-4 win as Guiseley A defeated Pudsey B 18-12, while Alan Peel 21-2 and Sally Turner 21-8 helped Clayton B defeat Rufford A 21-9 to record their first victory of the season.
Ladyhill B remain the only defeated team in the Observer League, following up last week's draw at Horsforth Woodside with a 24-6 home win over Drighlington – Lee Hicks 21-6, Darren Owthwaite 21-8 and Sue Finnie 21-9 the pick of eight home winners. Charles Wood limited the damage for Drighlington with a 21-6 effort.
Paula Graham's 21-9 got Asa Briggs B off to a flying start at Littlemoor S&SC B but the hosts replied with Terry Laidlaw 21-2, Craig Farquharson 21-3, Jack Bowes 21-5 and Jim Moorin 21-9, ensuring a 24-6 home win.
Wilf Murgatroyd 21-4 and Nick Crowther 21-8 helped Hipperholme & Lightcliffe A to a 21-9 home victory over Wyke B, while John Butterworth's 21-8 inflicted the first defeat of the season on Shipley Club B as Hove Edge A took the game 18-12.
Peel got the better of Horsforth Woodside A 19-11, with Nicola Stocks 21-6, John Stocks 21-7 and Mary Hemsley 21-8 the pick of six home winners, while Peter Wilson's 21-7 led Greengates A to an 18-12 home win over Hightown.
