Prescot Cables 2 Farsley Celtic 0
FARSLEY’S Bradford City loanee Jon Lewis came off the bench to make his Celts debut but couldn’t help them climb out of the Evo-Stik Division One North relegation zone.
Prescot Cables were immediately above Farsley in the table, just two points better off, and ensured they stayed clear of their visitors with a spirited and dogged display which earned them victory.
Neil Parsley’s men started well, with Kyle Hancock being denied by the home keeper before Lewis Nightingale fired just over.
However, two goals in a six-minute spell midway through the first half stunned the visitors.
Joe Herbert opened the scoring in the18th minute, and Lloyd Dean buried a left-foot shot into the bottom corner soon after.
Celts’ striker Aiden Savory hit a post and later picked out Rob O’Brien, only to see the skipper foiled by the home keeper.
After the break, young Bantams player Lewis came on to replace Neil Stevens, and was only denied a debut goal by the woodwork.
