Talented Guiseley youngster Ben Whitfield has completed a deadline-day move to Championship club Bournemouth.
The Bingley-born midfielder, formerly with Silsden, has been impressing for the Lions under-18s in the FA Youth Cup this season and was handed his first-team debut in December.
Whitfield attracted interest from a number of Premier League and Football League clubs – including Huddersfield Town, where he had a trial.
But he has now put pen to paper on an 18-month deal at the Goldsands Stadium.
The attacking midfielder is expected to train with the first team and continue his progress by featuring in games for the development squad.
“It’s taken a while to get sorted but I’m really happy to be a Bournemouth player,” said Whitfield.
“Eddie Howe (Cherries manager) was a big part of why I decided to come down here because of the way he coaches and his teams play.
“It’s a big move but that will make it easier for me and help me improve as a player.
“It’s a really exciting time for me. I just want to try and impress the manager, do well for the development squad and hopefully something will happen for me in the first team.”
