The widow of the man who inspired The Calendar Girls struggled to contain her emotion as she unveiled a new nude charity calendar to mark the 10th anniversary of the original one.
Angela Baker broke down in tears as she spoke about her husband, John, whose death from lymphoma sparked the decision of 11 members of Rylstone Women’s Institute, near Skipton, to strip off for a calendar to raise money for Leukaemia Research in 2000.
Six of the original women revealed their first full-colour calendar at Harvey Nichols in Leeds, ten years after their original set of saucy images went on sale.
The first calendar sold across the world and their story has been told in a film and a stage play so far raising almost £2 million for the charity.
