Multi-million pound plans to convert a redundant inner city mill into a residential, business and leisure complex were renewed by councillors yesterday.

Members of Bradford Council’s area planning panel unanimously approved Huddersfield-based KAS Property Management’s £15 million application to revitalise Drummonds Mill – a Grade II-listed 19th century building – to create offices, retail units, apartments and a health club.

The proposal for the “mixed use” development, which was first approved in 2006, include 95 one-bed, 71 two-bed, 35 three-bed and four four-bed residential units.

Planning permission was due to expire next month.

A report to the committee, recommending the scheme for approval, said: “The proposed development will substantially retain the industrial heritage of the site while achieving a mixed use scheme making better use of a brownfield site and stimulating the regeneration of the Manningham area.”

Planning officer Malcolm Joy told councillors separate plans to open a bazaar at the site in Lumb Lane, Manningham, are expected to be discussed by the committee next month.
