Bradford Labour MPs Marsha Singh and Terry Rooney are to hold talks with senior managers at troubled catalogue firm Grattan which is expected to axe more than 1,000 jobs.
They have arranged the meeting to see what can be done to help.
Mr Rooney (Bradford North) said: “After Morrisons, Grattan is the biggest private sector employer in Bradford.
“It has been part of our economic landscape for about 120 years and is a massive part of the city’s fabric.
“Everyone living in Bradford will probably have had some contact with the firm.
“We are obviously very concerned about the future both that of the company and the threatened redundancies.
“We want to meet the MD and see what we can do to help and whether the number of job losses can be reduced.”
The Bradford-based catalogue firm has not yet announced specifics of where the redundancies will fall but it is widely feared its operations in Thornton Road and Ingleby Road will be the worst hit.
