A builder who became depressed after badly injuring a leg in a work-related accident hung himself, an inquest heard.
The body of Kevin Smith, 47, was found in the garage of his home in Oaks Lane, Fairweather Green, Bradford.
In a written statement, his wife, Margaret Smith, said her husband, a father of three, broke a bone in his leg in nine places when he fell off a ladder at work.
Mrs Smith said her husband had been prescribed anti-depressants, and told the doctor he wanted to end his life but could not because of his family. Mr Smith's body was found following a family barbecue on Saturday, June 9.
Recording a verdict of suicide, Mr Whittaker said: "From what Mr Smith said and more particularly from what he did I infer he intended the consequences of his actions, being so upset and depressed by the problems which stem from this accident at work."
