HOUSE price increases in Yorkshire were well below the national average for the year ending in August, the latest national statistics show.
Property values in this region went up by 6.3 per cent during the 12 months, though the national average increase was 11.7 per cent.
The Office for National Statistics has compiled the figures which also show it should be easier to get on the property ladder in this area because average values are down on the national average value of homes, which was running at £208,000 in August.
Figures show wide discrepancies around the country, however, with values shooting up by almost 20 per cent in London, while in the North East property prices increased by a more modest 3.8 per cent.
Property prices appear to be outstripping inflation, however, with the latest figures for that showing a 1.2 per cent increase in prices.
