SIR - The March 5 edition of the T&A included an exchange between Anna Dixon (the Labour PPC for Shipley) and Philip Davies, the sitting MP.

Anna Dixon was critical of Mr Davies for holding down a second job working for GB TV. In her view, he should have been concentrating his time and effort in seeking to improve the quality of life for his Shipley constituents.

I have met both Philip and Anna and I am very familiar with their policy priorities, and more importantly, their values. I have a clear opinion that Anna Dixon would make a significantly better MP for Shipley than the present incumbent. Philip Davies has sat in the Commons since 2005, and has supported a Conservative Party that has done huge damage to this country.

Not least of the damage has been Brexit, a policy vigorously supported by Philip Davies that has proved possibly the worst government policy decision of the last hundred years (perhaps rivalled only by the total wrong-headedness of austerity economic policy).

Under the Conservatives the rich have become richer and the poor poorer. Anna Dixon is committed to reversing that.
