Retired supermarket supremo Sir Ken Morrison remains the second richest man in Yorkshire, according to this year's Sunday Times Rich List to be published on Sunday.
It shows that Sir Ken, the billionaire life president of the Bradford-based Morrisons supermarket group, is the UK's 66th richest person with a fortune of £1.11 billion, up £76m on the previous year.
The wealth of Sir Ken, 80 - who now owns farms in North Yorkshire and was last year's president of the Great Yorkshire Show - and his family benefited from their ten per cent holdings in the retail business founded as a market stall by his father in the late 19th Century, which is worth £760 million. Morrisons is now the UK's fourth largest supermarket.
Also maintaining their rank in the rich list in 11th place are Jack Tordoff and his family, owners of the Bradford-based JCT600 motors group, which operates 48 dealerships across Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and the North-East. Their fortune is measured at £290 million, placing them at equal 279th in the UK .
Sir Robert Ogden, former Otley-based construction chief and now a computer entrepreneur, is Yorkshire's 20th richest man, worth £150 million, which ranks him at equal 501st in the overall list.
David Hood, founder of Saltaire electronics firm Pace and the Multiflight air charter operation based at Leeds Bradford International Airport, has slipped to 15th place regionally from 14th a year earlier. His £200 million fortune puts him at equal 370th place nationally.
The 2012 Rich List shows that Yorkshire's richest people are brothers Eddie and Malcolm Healey.
Eddie, 74, is best known as the developer of the Meadowhall shopping centre, in Sheffield. He made £420 million by selling his stake in the development in 1999. More recently, he sold a half share in the Centro shopping centre, near Dusseldorf, last year, this time netting £593m. His brother, Malcolm, 67, built up and later sold the Hygena Kitchens business and has invested in ebuyer, an internet retailer with annual sales of about £250m.
Their combined wealth has remained at £1.5 billion, putting them at 42nd in the UK rankings.
Overall, the wealth of the top ten in Yorkshire at £7,22 billion is 0.5 per cent down on the 2011 value of £7.25 billion. This compares with a gain of 4.7 per cent overall in the wealth of the top 1,000 this year.
The annual Sunday Times Rich List is based on identifiable wealth (land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies), and excludes bank accounts (to which the publisher has no access).
