Drivers battling in and out of Bradford might have long suspected it, but now it has been confirmed that the city’s roads are among the most congested in Europe.
Bradford has been named in a new survey as the 11th most gridlocked city for drivers in the continent and the third worst in England in an annual table compiled by a satellite navigation company.
It is one of 16 British cities which feature in the list of the 50 most congested European cities, and one of eight in the top 20.
The research by TomTom suggests 29.4 per cent of Bradford’s roads are regularly congested, slightly less than Manchester with 29.5 per cent, and just above Belfast with 29 per cent.
