Patrons of a Bradford Italian restaurant can enjoy a healthy pasta dish and raise money for the Beating Hearts in Bradford Appeal this month.
The New Giuseppe’s restaurant, in Albion Court in Bradford city centre, is putting a healthy dish of the day on the menu for six days, starting on Monday, July 27.
Diners can choose from a range of pasta dishes and salads, with 50p from every meal ordered going towards the British Heart Foundation appeal.
Children can choose ice cream cones and people can take part in a raffle, with the chance to win a £40 restaurant voucher and Bradford Bulls prizes.
The Super League club was among the first to get behind the appeal, which is being backed by the Telegraph & Argus. It is aiming to raise £105,000 to buy a 3D echocardiograph machine for the cardiology department at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
It will enable doctors to carry out specialised heart scans on patients using the most up-to-date technology available. It is particularly needed in Bradford as there is such a high prevalence of heart disease in the district.
Bulls player James Donaldson popped along to the popular restaurant to try out the food and meet manager Diane Johnson and Sue Green, BHF fundraising and volunteer manager in West Yorkshire.
Diane said: “This is a local appeal and is for the benefit of the people of Bradford. As a city centre restaurant, we wanted to do anything we could to help out.
“It will be great to get this scanner in Bradford so we hope our idea for a healthy dish of the day will raise lots of money.”
The restaurant is open on Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 2.30pm and from 5.30pm to approximately 11pm, and all day on Saturday from 11.30am. It is closed on Sunday.
Sue said: “Because of the credit crunch a lot of people aren’t going away this year so they could come along to Giuseppe’s and enjoy the taste of Italy right here in Bradford. We are really thankful to Giuseppe’s for taking on board the appeal and for raising funds.”
