A cycling club has been formed to offer disabled people across the district the opportunity to take up riding.
A group of dedicated volunteers have raised the money to start the Bradford Disability Cycling Club.
A fleet of bikes and trikes, including some hand operated, for all ages and abilities have been bought by the club, which was launched by Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe today.
Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe said: “This is a magnificent new venture for Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure and will offer, from June, disabled individuals, groups and local schools the opportunity to cycle around Lister Park.”
The charity Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure raised money for the club by riding from Bradford to its twin town of Hamm in Germany and back.
Thanks to help from Bradford Council and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the club is now run from the courtyard to the left of Cartwright Hall.
It also has a tandem which can be used to help partially-sighted or blind people.
