THERE are severe delays on the M62 this afternoon following a lorry fire.
Fire crews were called to the scene shortly after 3pm today to the incident, on the M62 westbound between Junctions 24 (Ainley Top) and 25 (Brighouse).
Although the fire initially caused both lanes of the motorway to be closed, the eastbound lane is now open. Severe delays remain in the westbound carriageway.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 3.11pm today to reports of a lorry fire on the M62 25/24 westbound.
"We have extinguished the fire but three crews are currently still at the scene.
"There were no reports of any injuries."
A recent traffic alert reported: "Severe delays and one lane closed due to lorry fire on M62 Westbound from Junction 25 A644 Wakefield Road (Brighouse) to Junction 24 A629 (Ainley Top).
"Congestion to J26 (M606/Chain Bar). Ongoing since around 3.40pm.
"The motorway was blocked for around 40 minutes, after which lane one (of four) remains closed. The eastbound had been released earlier."
